Pace Announces Auction, Gala for April 9

Online bidding begins Friday for Showcase Pace event

Pace Academy will have its annual spring auction and gala, Showcase Pace, beginning at 6 p.m. April 9 at the Grand Hyatt in Buckhead.

Auction items will be available for PBay online bidding beginning Friday, according to a news release from the school. Separate items will be available at a silent auction April 9.

Participants can bid on artwork and such items as tickets to live "American Idol" tapings in Hollywood, tickets to the American Music Awards, passes to the 2011 PGA Championship, a week stay at a private home in France and a day's driving experience at the Porsche Sport Driving Track. 

The silent auction will incorporate BidPal technology, which allows users to place bids through iPhones they receive upon arrival. All auction items will be preloaded to the device with item description, value, and photos.The BidPal technology allows attendees to bid from anywhere at any time and receive out-bid alerts on items they select.

Pace students will take part in the event, which raises funds  for scholarships, school initiatives and classroom materials including computers, microscopes and library expenses.

Included in the ticket price of $150 is a seated dinner prepared by Martin Pfefferkorn, the Grand Hyatt's award-winning chef. The silent auction will follow. Northsiders Kim Helfgott and Lori Movsovitz are co-chairs.
