SPLOST IV includes $30 million for new school

The APS' SPLOST IV package approved last week includes $30 million for a new Buckhead elementary school.

But Buckhead school observers say construction of a new school is not necessarily definite. A long-awaited APS demographics study will determine whether a new school is a feasible option to handle Buckhead's population over the next 10 years. Although schools like and are at present severely overcrowded, school officials could decide that growth will slow in the future and that renovating existing schools would be the best solution.
