Report: Students Protest at North Atlanta

Students left class Wednesday in protest of the removal of school administration

North Atlanta High School students left class Wednesday in protest of the removal of school administrators last week.

The students were sitting on the football field on the campus around 12 p.m. in protest, according to a live Channel 2 Action News report.

Mark MyGrant, the interim prtincipal at North Atlanta High School, and his administrative leadership at the Buckhead school were removed from their posts late Friday with little public explanation from school district officials.

In letter posted to the APS website, Superintendent Erroll B. Davis simply wrote the changes were effective immediately.

Sid Baker, the former principal of Sarah Smith Elementary, will run the school until Oct. 29, when Howard Taylor takes over.

At a meeting with angry North Atlanta parents and students, Davis  said the school is failing and was in danger of being taken over by the state.
