Westminster Students Participate in Service Day

Activities include collecting Red Cross donations for aid to Japan

Westminster students took off from school Friday, not for a holiday but to give service to Atlanta nonprofit organizations.

The 900 high school students visited 36 different agencies to mark Christian Emphasis Week at the school, according to a news release.

Since 2001, Westminster's high school has been engaged in community service initiatives, the school said.

In addition to the nonprofits, a group of students  sold cookies at the West Paces Ferry Shopping Center and collected donations for the Red Cross to aid Japanese earthquake vicitims.

The Japanese crisis has touched close to home for many faculty and Westminster families, the school said.
