World Cup soccer continues to draw record television crowds, and viewership in metro Atlanta is a big part of the world fútbol party.
More than 18 million people watched the United States play Portugal to a 2-2 tie on Sunday, making it the most-watched soccer match ever on U.S. television, according to Mediabistro.

Leading the way with a 13.3 rating was the metro area of Washington, D.C., while metro Atlanta's 11.1 rating placed seventh in U.S. markets according to the website.
Rounding out the Top 10 markets: Columbus, OH (12.6), New York (12.5), Boston (11.5), Hartford/New Haven (11.3), Providence (11.2), Baltimore (11.0), Norfolk (10.5), Orlando (10.5) and Sacramento (10.5).

The dramatic match was also the most-viewed program in ESPN's history, save for NFL and college football telecasts.
