Kids Splash & Dash Added to TriPATHlon Event

Children’s Race Added to Atlanta Triathlon on May 6 at Chastain Park


Atlanta – April 30, 2012 – Organizers of Atlanta’s TriPATHlon event, a triathlon that will be held at Chastain Park on May 6, have announced that there will be a new special segment for children after the main event called the Splash & Dash.

During the Splash & Dash race, children ages 4 to 14 will be separated into three different age groups: juniors, intermediates and seniors. Based on age group, participants will swim distances ranging from 50 to 200 yards. After the swimming portion, participants will run distances ranging from 500 yards to 2K.


Commemorative medals and awards will be given to all finishers at the awards ceremony following the race at Chastain Pool.  Trophies will be awarded to the top finishers in each individual age group and gender. Ribbons will be awarded to the top five children in each individual age group.

The TriPATHlon event is a sprint distance race with a 400-yard pool swim, 15-mile bike ride, and a 5K run that starts at 7:30 a.m.  

This event, as well as the TriPATHlon, is sponsored by Mercedes-Benz of Buckhead, The Coca-Cola Company, and Cox Media Group.


The Splash & Dash is the first fully sanctioned USAT youth initiative and one of few in-town triathlon events in the country. The entry fee is $40 for all age groups.
