'Skate It or Hang It!?' Coming to Shops Around Lenox

Shops Around Lenox and MODA team up for Fourth of July skateboard/art event.

Why wait for the fireworks? Shops Around Lenox is kicking off Fourth of July festivities early with Skate and Art Jam — an interactive art exhibit in conjunction with the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA).

The event, from 3 p.m. until dark, will include skateboarding demonstrations by professional skateboarders.  An artist alley will feature work by 12 Atlanta-based artists, graffiti lessons by local graffiti artist HENSE and painting demos by Chris Hamer.  To keep attendees fueled, area food trucks will be serving their fare, Vitaminwater will have giveaways and Sam Flax will set up a comfort station for visitors to recover from the heat.

The event ties in to the “Skate It or Hang It!? The Evolution of Skateboard Art” exhibition on display at MODA until Sept. 16.  The exhibition examines the visual aspects of skateboarding by presenting skateboard art in a broad range of styles, imagery and visual expression.
