Students are designated a National Merit Semifinalist based on their junior year PSAT scores. To become a Finalist, the students submitted an application that included information about their academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, and honors and awards received. Students must also have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by Galloway, write an essay, and earn SAT scores that confirm the student's earlier performance on the qualifying test.
In addition to the six National Merit Finalists, Galloway has nine other students who received recognition from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. They are: David Bernstein, JT Cicchillo, Teddy Donnell, Aaron Gordon, Melissa Letzler, Kelan Otto, Davis Parker, Alex Slawson, and Jada White, who also received recognition as a National Achievement Scholar which is given to the top 3 percent of African American PSAT takers.
