NASA Astronaut Visits Trinity School
From Smyrna to space and back, NASA Astronaut Shane Kimbrough speaks to students about space travel, determination, and the pursuit of life-long learning.
Recently Trinity School Sixth Grade students enjoyed a visit from Smyrna-raised NASA Astronaut Colonel Shane Kimbrough (Lovett ’85), who shared photos, videos, and a first-hand account of his voyages into space. In addition to discussing some of the technical aspects of space travel, Colonel Kimbrough emphasized the importance of hard work, good study habits, determination, and perseverance. He specifically encouraged students to remain determined in the face of negative thoughts and other challenges, referencing some of his own experiences as examples. Much to some of the students’ chagrin, he also explained that in essence, school never ends, that learning is a life-long journey.
