Buckhead Residents' Group Against Liquor, Atlanta Elections on Tuesday

The week ahead offers art, music and a search for mushrooms.

Cool Week Ahead: A frost advisory remains in effect for most of the area until 9 a.m., although it is less likely in the city. Today will be sunny with a high near 62, according to the National Weather Service forecast. The wind will be easterly with gusts as high as 15 mph. Tonight's low will be around 39, and Tuesday will have a high near 62. A chance of showers is likely Wednesday night, with the rain likely on Thursday. But the weekend should clear up.

Election Day in Buckhead, Rest of Atlanta: Atlanta voters will pick their mayor, City Council President, City Council, Board of Education and to retain municipal court judges on Tuesday at all of the precinct and polling places in the city. Polls will be open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. A Municipal General Run-off Election will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 3, if the race for any particular seat(s) results in no single candidate receiving at least 50 percent plus one (1) vote.

Residents Say No to Liquor Near Homes: A group of Buckhead residents in City Council District 7 want help convincing the city not to approve a liquor code change that would allow beer, wine and liquor within 200 feet of Buckhead neighborhoods. The group will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. at The Cathedral of St. Phillips, 2744 Peachtree Rd, Atlanta.

In Search of Mushrooms: Join mushroom expert Mary Woehrel for a glance into the mysterious lives of mushrooms.  During a walk through the Blue Heron Nature Preserve on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 10 a.m., participants will look for native mushrooms that grow right here in Atlanta.  Then, the class will head inside to learn more about mushrooms, how to identify edible and poisonous mushrooms, and more. $12.
