Wholesome Wave Brings Mission to Buckhead to Provide Produce

Non profit teams up with Naked Juice, AOL to help improve access to fresh produce to underserved communities in Atlanta.

The bustling Peachtree Road Farmers Market hosted 2,000 attendees with 50 local vendors from across Atlanta – and celebrity chefs from Bravo's "Top Chef" and the non-profit Wholesome Wave.

Chef Sam Talbot from Bravo’s “Top Chef” and Michel Nishchan, CEO of non-profit Wholesome Wave, were the celebrities. Nischan is a James Beard Award winner.

The Farmers Market visit was part of a mission by Naked Juice and its partner, Wholesome Wave, to provide fresh produce to underserved communities in Atlanta.

The partnership benefits Atlanta communities and underserved communities nationwide and provides 150,000 pounds worth of fresh fruits and vegetables via Wholesome Wave’s Double Value Coupon Program.

According to the USDA, 13.5 million Americans have limited access to affordable fresh fruits and vegetables. Naked Juice believes everyone deserves access to affordable fresh fruits and vegetables and has teamed up with non-profit Wholesome Wave and AOL to help improve access to fresh produce in Atlanta.

Representatives from Wholesome Wave were on hand at the Peachtree Road Farmers Market to discuss the collaboration with Naked Juice, the market’s impact on the local community and how Atlanta locals can help provide other underserved communities access to affordable fresh fruits and vegetables through a text-to-give and tweet-to-give program.
