A funeral service for the man who fell 10 stories to his death, in what Atlanta Police believe to be a suicide, at a Buckhead high-rise will be held Thursday morning. However, the death of 32-year-old Burke Boger cannot be confirmed a suicide until results from the Medical Examiner's Office have been returned. Boger was beloved and well-known for his outgoing and energetic personality. His funeral is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 11, at All Saints' Episcopal Church, 634 West Peachtree Street NW. The Reverend Noelle York-Simmons officiating. Despite the abundance of Romney-Paul yard signs found throughout Buckhead, how exactly did Buckhead resident vote once they went to the polls?
It may seem obvious how most Buckhead residents voted in the 2012 Presidential Election as you would have been hard-pressed to find an Obama-Biden sign in their yards, but still there may be a few surprises. In fact, Republican Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle did select Buckhead as the location for his Election Night Watch Party. The Buckhead precincts closest to Midtown, like the Peachtree Hills Recration and Brighton Gardens precincts, were almost split down the middle between votes for Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama. At Brighton Gardens, 557 votes were cast for Romney, while 560 voters chose Obama. At Peachtree Hills, 837 voted for Romney and 828 picked Obama. A memorial service has been arranged for former Lovett student Hawkins Francis Wilber, 24, who passed away at his home in Atlanta last week. The service will be held on Sunday, April 22, at 2:00 pm at The Carter Center. Wilber attended the Lovett School where he excelled in lacrosse, football, and basketball and graduated in 2006. "The Lovett community is deeply saddened by Hawkins' passing," said William S. Peebles IV, headmaster at the Lovett School. "He was a wonderful friend, teammate, and student at our school, and he will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Wilber family during this difficult time." Buckhead voters go to the polls Tuesday for the Georgia presidential primary and to decide whether to extend the municipal option sales tax for four years. In the Georgia GOP presidential primary, voters will decide on awarding delegates to candidates Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum or Ron Paul. President Barack Obama will be on the Democratic ballot. Alex Horsley, the Atlanta International School's founding headmaster, died Thursday at his home in Atlanta after "a spirited battle with cancer," AIS announced. John Donoghue dies at age 83
The funeral Mass for Atlanta Archbishop-emeritus John Francis Donoghue will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Buckhead. Archbishop Donoghue, 83, the fifth archbishop of the Atlanta Archdiocese, died Friday night, the Atlanta archdiocese said. The archdiocese gave no information about the cause or circumstances of his death, but The Atlanta Journal-Constitution cited a report that he had grown increasingly weak in recent months. From Patch Staff Reports A memorial service for Emily Dunn, a 2006 Lovett School graduate and a former Buckhead resident, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Presbyterian Church, according to her obituary in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the Lovett website. Dunn, 23, died Aug. 19 in San Francisco when she was struck by a municipal bus, according to a SF.streetsblog article about how she was remembered by residents of the city's Castro district, where the accident occurred.
