Former Atlanta Mayor and the undisputed “Mayor of Buckhead” Sam Massell told a packed house of about 75 businessmen and women that Buckhead is thriving and headed in a positive direction, due to its effective leadership and partly because of its continued development of more than 3,500 new apartments. Buckhead attorney Brian E. Daughdrill, takes over the presidency of the Buckhead Business Association this year. Daughdrill, who is a principal in Roberts & Daughdrill, said for 2013, his top priorities include a greater commitment to community service. That entails both financial and physical commitments, he said in an interview with Buckhead Patch. Specifically, he wants focus on four key areas he says will strengthen not only the business vitality of the greater Buckhead area, but also the quality of life for its residents. As he sees it, greenspace, education, arts and leadership are the things to tackle for the betterment of the 175-year-old community. The young entrepreneur owns and manages multiple businesses in Buckhead and was recently honored by the Buckhead Business Association.
Buckhead Patch caught up with Brian Hah, the owner and operator of the Yogurberry located at Terminus. Hah was honored in January at the Buckhead Business Association annual luncheon as the Entrepreneur of the Year. Hah took over the failing frozen yogurt shop in 2008 and made it a "hit" among the Buckhead business community, which is difficult since the yogurt shop is somewhat tucked away in the Terminus. With frozen yogurt shops at every turn, Hah had to be intentional about the experience given to each and every customer he explained. He also couldn't let his fiery passion for the job be extinguished. The Buckhead Business Association presented its awards for Business of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year and others.
Southern Art & Bourbon Bar was honored as the top business of 2012 by the Buckhead Business Association at the group's 62nd annual luncheon on Thursday. Chef Art Smith, Southern Art's owner and creator, is the executive chef and co-owner of Table fifty-two in Chicago, Art and Soul in Washington, and Lyfe Kitchen in Palo Alto, Calif. He served as Oprah Winfrey's personal chef for 10 years. Alain Zemmour, general manager for Southern Art, accepted the award on Thursday. Other finalists for the award included: Chic Evolution in Art, Drybar Atlanta, Simply Buckhead, and Zoe’s Kitchen.
