Three men under the age of 25 have been charged with multiple counts of hijacking a motor vehicle, armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, use of a firearm during commission of a felony and credit card fraud.
The Atlanta Police have connected two of the car-bumping carjacking suspects to other vehicle hijacking and robbery crimes, which occurred in late April and in early May. Ronnie Houston, 24, Darius McKenzie, 23, and Sedarius Tidwell, 22, have all been arrested and charged with multiple counts of hijacking a motor vehicle, armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, use of a firearm during commission of a felony and credit card fraud. According to police, the crimes began on April 21with the theft of a 1998 Honda Accord on Fairburn Road in southwest Atlanta. U.S. Marshals arrested a man in connection with carjackings occurring in Buckhead.
U.S. Marshals surrounded a home on Tarragon Way SW, near Adamsville, on Friday afternoon while following a lead in a recent string of Buckhead carjackings. Buckhead Patch first reported of the rear-ending carjacking tactic in the April 22 Buckhead Crime Blotter. Buckhead Patch also first reported the warning from police about the nature of these carjackings. Buckhead's Zone 2 Commander Major Van Hobbs gives safety tips for possible carjacking victims.
Atlanta Police's Zone 2 Commander Major Van Hobbs is warning Buckhead drivers about a new tactic carjacking suspects are using to get drivers out of their cars– rear-ending their vehicles, robbing them and speeding away in their vehicles once the victims get out to inspect potential damage. Two patrons of the Northside branch of the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library were carjacked on Wednesday afternoon at gunpoint. One vehicle has been recovered.
On Wednesday, two patrons of the Northside branch of Atlanta-Fulton Public Library at 3295 Northside Parkway were carjacked at gunpoint around 5:30 p.m. The Mt. Paran Northside Citizens Association posted on its website an email about the incident from one of the carjacking victims. Major Van Hobbs, Atlanta Police Zone 2 Commander, confirmed that the incident occurred as the victim described in her email. The victim was putting books in the trunk of her car when two teenagers, who were only described as African-American, approached her and demanded her purse. Great news. I really hope they work harder to keep these animals off of our streets. They should stay in their own 'hoods and not terrorize ours. Or better yet, permanently caged in jail like the dogs they are. I hope they rot.   more ›
