After 37 years, Pella is closing its doors at its Shops Around Lenox location in Buckhead at the end of February. Most of the items in the women's wear retailer are now 50 percent off as part of the store's going out of business sale. According to the shop's owner, who wished to remain unnamed, Pella experienced declining sales and is not renewing its lease. "The economy is not the same... It's hard for independents. Independents are struggling," said Pella's owner. Another women's retailer, Dallas, TX-based The Impeccable Pig, is expected to replace Pella sometime in March, according to Tomorrow's News Today. Aspen Bartini will open in the East Paces Tavern location on Nov. 15.
A new bar, Aspen Bartini, is scheduled to open in a week in the space formerly occupied by East Paces Tavern at 322 East Paces Ferry Road. The piano bar is planning to find success in the space that was home to shoe store Abbadabba's before East Paces Tavern moved in June and closed in September, according to Tomorrow's News Today. The new restaurant has added a patio. Aspen Bartini, which will be competing with Jellyrolls dueling piano bar just down the road at 295 East Paces Ferry Road, plans to set itself apart as a "sexy, sleek, and sensational piano bar," according to its Facebook page. Phipps Plaza has several new openings just in time for the shopping season.
Get out to The Container Store this weekend before it closes on Sunday to move from its current location at the corner of Piedmont and Peachtree roads. Right now, the entire store is on sale at 30 percent off or more. It will open its new store on Nov. 10 near Phipps Plaza at the intersection of Peachtree and Wieuca roads. During the Grand Opening Weekend, the store will donate 10 percent of the new store's proceeds to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, according to its website. Its current location, opened in 1991, was the first outside of Texas, where the company is based, according to What Now Atlanta. I went there last Monday... Food is pretty good but the manager there is at best disconnected and unknowledgeable and uninterested. Rather than speaking to a guest he attempts to buy them off by sneaking the check away or handing us freebie cards. Bartender was Candice. Chefs were both present and very involved.
