Buckhead club damaged in fire to say thanks

From Patch Staff Reports Buckhead's Tavern 99 will say thanks to firefighters who contained a small fire at the club Aug. 12. The "Roof Was on Fire" benefit Aug. 30 will raise funds for the Gold Shield Foundation of metro Atlanta, a nonprofit organization that assists families of law enforcement officers and firefighters killed or injured in the line of duty. Local artists will perform music for the benefit, for which $10 donations for Gold Shield will be taken at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m.; the show starts at 8 p.m. Firefighters from Buckhead Station 21 responded quickly to the fire, containing it to one corner of the club, which received minor smoke damage.
