For those looking for more information about the Ga. 400 trail, Livable Buckhead has released an informative video detailing the project. In the video, George Dusenbury from City of Atlanta Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs discusses plans to increase park space in Buckhead — which he calls one of the least "parked" areas in the city. Also, Erica Danylchak of the Buckhead Heritage Society reveals how important historic sites will be incorporated along the trail. More recently, Gov. Nathan Deal announced the approval of $750,000 to go toward the Ga. 400 trail. Although the trail will be implemented by Livable Buckhead, the money was granted to the Buckhead Community Improvement District. The Ga. 400 trail is one of 12 infrastructure …

Group says project would bring crime to their backyards
Organized neighborhood opposition to the Ga. 400 trail emerged Thursday night with a slide show not on the agenda at the North Buckhead Civic Association's 40th annual meeting. After a scheduled Livable Buckhead presentation about its plans for the trail, homeowner Leanne West of Glengary Drive stood up and asked to show her presentation to the group. West said she represents 44 families in the Loridans Drive-Glengary area who strongly oppose the project and have set up a Facebook page, "Concerned Citizens About Livable Buckhead's Ga. 400 Trail Project." Livable Buckhead's plans call for the trailhead to be placed at Loridans besides Ga. 400 in a wooded area near the historic Lowry-Stevens cemetery. Little, a research scientist at Ga. …

Presenting an update about the trail to the Buckhead Community Improvement District’s board, Starling said Livable Buckhead is starting one-on-one meetings with property owners whose yards abut the trail's path, which will run along Georgia DOT right of way. “People think the trail is done, that it’s a fait accompli, but we don’t have a design,” she said. “We’re going to let property owners inform that design. It’s not done. We’re still two years away from construction.” Starling said that property owners living beside the tral are expressing concerns. “It’s now about a lot of angst and a lot of …

North Buckhead’s past lived anew for area residents Sunday afternoon. In connection with the North Buckhead Civic Association’s annual Fall Fling, residents congregated in the Blue Heron Nature Preserve’s building to look at historic surveyors’ maps and development plans. Comparing present day homes, businesses and landmarks with what existed long ago proved an exciting detective game. The “History Day” event at the nature preserve was the kickoff of a Buckhead Heritage Society project to gather oral histories and historic photos and documents of Buckhead neighborhoods for Livable Buckhead’s Buckhead Collection project. The historic information is to be used to provide historic guideposts for trails to be developed in Buckhead’s Council …
