People often wonder what they'd do if they came face to face with a thief who wanted to take something of theirs. Would they hand it over? Would they chase them down? The project is designed to promote more walkable areas in Buckhead and throughout metro Atlanta.
The Buckhead Community Improvement District has allocated $25,000 to participate in a study designed to analyze walkability in Buckhead and other parts of metro Atlanta. Executive Director Jim Durrett asked for the appropriation during the organization’s board meeting on Tuesday. The Walkable Urban Places Study, to be conducted by the Brookings Institution and Georgia Tech, will cost $190,000 to produce. “I guarantee you we are going to get our money’s worth in terms of the value of this study,” he said. “And our leadership will go a long way toward getting other CIDs to participate.” Several Gwinnett County Community Improvement Districts have already agreed to help fund the project. “We want to identify areas in Atlanta that already …

I think it is admirable that Mr. Durrett feels he can make a difference in this boys life, however he's a thief, and it's going to take some "doing" to accomplish this. I hope the police picked him up.......................that's one lesson he might not forget.   more ›
