Man Rescued after Catching Foot in Phipps Plaza Escalator
The man was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital after being rescued by Atlanta firefighters.
A man, who was at Phipps Plaza to work on the shopping center's sprinkler system, was rescued today after getting his foot caught in one of the parking deck escalators. According to a report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the man was carrying a ladder up the escalator when it slipped and created a wedge in the stairs of the escalator which is where the man's right foot became stuck. It took Atlanta Firefighters an hour to remove his foot from the escalator using heavy equipment. The man was conscious, but in a great deal of pain, when rescuers arrived and was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment, according to the AJC.
