"Shadow lifted" from school, North Atlanta says. Step Up Or Step Down also welcomes news
The removal of accreditation probation from APS high schools was welcome news in Buckhead Tuesday afternoon. District 4 school board member Nancy Meister cited the school board’s hard work in meeting six conditions laid down last January by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools when it put the school system on probation and said “we’re really thrilled” at the news. She promised that the board will “continue our momentum” and said that the announcement will benefit all the city’s high schools, including Buckhead’s North Atlanta. North Atllanta Principal Mark MyGrant said he was “thrilled to hear the good news, and I believe it’s a direct result of the leadership provided by the board chair Brenda Muhammad and our Superintendent …

Davis offers few definitive solutions for upset E. Rivers, Morris Brandon parents
Atlanta school officials Wednesday night assured North Atlanta High parents that APS remains confident in a fall 2013 opening for the new high school on Northside Parkway. Alvah Hardy, APS director of facilities services, said that the school's "design needs to be finished" by Nov. 7 and that the school system is "way ahead of schedule" in meeting that deadline, which comes a day before the vote on the SPLOST IV 1-cent sales tax. That certainty, in response to a statement from parent Reid Olney that completion of the new high school "opens up the process to solve other problems" with ovecrowding in Buckhead schools, was one of the few definitive answers school officials offered to parents, who expressed their frustrations with packed …

North Atlanta High School Principal Mark MyGrant is pleased with the school’s performance on 2011 SAT scores, released this week. The results reflect North Atlanta’s steady improvement on the test. “For the last three or four years, while the state and the national mean has gone down, we have been able to sustain growth,” MyGrant said. “From 2007 to 2011, we have increased in reading 22 points, in math, 17 points, and in writing 22 points. Warrior musicians prepare for fall performances
North Atlanta High School band camp finishes next week with a Band Preview Show on Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 7 p.m. at the school. When Patch stopped by on Thursday afternoon the sound of music tickled our ears before we even entered the building. The band practiced loud and proud to tunes such as Maroon5's new single, "Moves Like Jagger," and the sound of brass and drums reminded us that football season is right around the corner.

Nine-year pro replaces former coach Brian Montgomery at the Warriors' helm
It’s been a long time since football fans at North Atlanta High School have had a reason to celebrate on Friday nights. The Warriors’ last playoff appearance came in 1996, the same year that the Miami Dolphins selected a certain South Carolina Gamecocks fullback and Atlanta native in the fourth round of the NFL Draft. That fullback was Stanley Pritchett. Pritchett enjoyed nine fruitful years in the NFL with the Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bears and Atlanta Falcons. He now hopes to translate his success as a pro over to the Buckhead school as the new head coach. Pritchett replaces Brian Montgomery, who was hired away by Shiloh High School in February. “I’m excited to be at North Atlanta,” Pritchett said. “I’m really looking …
