Businesses worry as they watch and wait for progress at the Buckhead Atlanta construction site.
The shops in the heart of Buckhead all offer unique styles and products: glass art, music lessons, pet care, Irish beer, Turkish snacks and modern light fixtures, to name a few. But one characteristic unites them all -- living in close proximity to the giant construction site promised to become Buckhead Atlanta. Al Ozelci, owner of Café Agora on East Paces Ferry said he’s been around Atlanta for a long time, so he knows how things have changed. “Now you can’t even walk around,” he said, referring to traffic and general congestion near his locally renowned Mediterranean Cuisine restaurant. “But my business has never suffered,” Ozelci said proudly. Developer puts up sign on East Paces Ferry and Peachtree
San Diego developer OliverMcMillan has put up a billboard at East Paces Ferry and Peachtree Road promoting its Buckhead Atlanta development. The company purchased the former "Streets of Buckhead" project from Atlanta developer Ben Carter, who was unable to receive sufficient financing to complete the project. OliverMcMillan, which is upgrading plans for the development, plans to begin its work later this year. The billboard faces north from a building on East Paces Ferry, greeting drivers traveling on Peachtree from the traditional heart of Buckhead, where Roswell Road and Peachtree split. Jeremy Meredith talks about urban village concept
Oliver McMillan’s Buckhead Atlanta “urban village” will blend with the surrounding neighborhood and allow easy access, the project manager says. Jeremy Meredith, an Atlanta native running the project for the San Diego company, said “We’re seeing it as something that fits within the existing Buckhead Village fabric that’s been there for years.
