Friday and Saturday Events Honor Orly

Lecture and film screening about the tragic Orly plane crash being held today; art exhibit and auction tomorrow.

Nearly 50 years ago, a plane crash in Paris devastated Atlanta, taking the lives of many of the city's most ardent supporters of the arts. June 3 marks the 50th anniversary of the crash, and The Buckhead Heritage Society has planned commemorations today and tomorrow of those who were lost, and a tribute to the city's renewed support for the arts. The Buckhead Heritage Society will host a lecture today, May 11, at 6:30 p.m. by Ann Uhry Abrams, author of Explosion at Orly: The Disaster that Transformed Atlanta, and Chris Moser, the producer of the 2001 GPB documentary film,The Day Atlanta Stood Still.
