Fado Voted Best Spot in Buckhead for St. Patrick's Day

Irish pub receives strong support in voting

Buckhead Patch readers chose the Fado Irish Pub the best place to spend St. Patrick's Day. Known for its St. Patrick's street fair on Buckhead Avenue, Fado received 75 percent of the votes in the Readers' Choice voting. The Fado event, which begins at 11 a.m. Saturday, with doors opening at 7 a.m, is one of several in Buckhead. St. Patrick's activities also include a Saturday night performance by Irish musician Liam O'Connor at the Buckhead Theatre. Next week's Buckhead Patch Readers' Choice poll will be the best places to enjoy outside dining. The voting will begin Monday morning and continue until 9 a.m. Friday, March 23.

Gretchen's Wins Readers' Choice Poll

Retailer favored as Buckhead's top children's store

Gretchen's was selected as the best children's store in Buckhead Patch's Readers' Choice poll this week. The store on West Paces Ferry received 67 percent of the votes. Two comments cited its selection of girls' clothes and its delivering gifts by mail. "I am so exicted, that’s wonderful," owner Anne Ames said. "Gretchen's has been around a long, long time. Like the queen (Great Britain's Elizabeth), we're celebrating our diamond jubilee. We started n 1952, so this is our sixtieth year." Ames also said the store has been in its present location, the West Paces Ferry Shopping Center, since it was built in the late 1950s. She also cited the store's wide selection.
