Buckhead real estate development firm seeks to focus on building multifamily housing business.
Gvest Partners LLC, looking to beef up its presence in the multifamily real estate sector, has launched a practice in that space and hired a development partner to lead those efforts. The privately held Gvest, which also has offices in Charlotte, hired John Bell as development partner and he is tasked with finding acquisition opportunities in the Southeast. The company focuses on the acquisition, development and management of commercial real estate and renewable energy projects. Bell, who had been vice-president of multifamily at Atlanta-based Opus South Corp., developed some 5,600 multifamily units in his career, which included management posts at Lane Co., Trammell Crow Co. and Toll Bros. Two Alliance Center on Lenox Road sold to Raleigh-based Highwoods Properties
Raleigh-based Highwoods Properties announced Friday that it purchased Two Alliance Center on Lenox Road in Buckhead for $146.7 million. The 29-floor office building at 3560 Lenox Road was built in 2009 and is considered one of the “premier” office buildings in Atlanta. Highwoods Properties CEO Ed Fritsch told The Raleigh News Observer the building is 90 percent leased and “a contract is in place that will take that to 92 percent by the middle of next year.” The building could generate $11.1 million in operating income in 2013, according to the report.
