Buckhead Legislator Won't Run For Another Term

State Rep. Elly Dobbs has informed her General Assembly colleagues she is not seeking a third term.

State Rep. Elly Dobbs, whose 53rd house district includes portions of Buckhead, told her legislative colleages on Monday she won't seek another term in office. According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Dobbs addressed her colleagues from the House well. As a result of the most recent legislative redistricting mandated by the 2010 U.S. Census, Dobbs' was drawn into the same district as state Rep. Shiela Jones, who has already announced her intention to seek re-election. Another candidate, Robert Pattillo, is also seeking the seat.

Buckhead Representative Undecided on Running in Redrawn District

Elly Dobbs says she's 'looking into options" for the new District 53, which stretches from Buckhead in the north to Cascade in the southwest.

From Patch Reports Buckhead Rep. Elly Dobbs says she is undecided about running in the newly redrawn House District 53, in which she would have to contend against another Democratic incumbent, as well as a third candidate. Dobbs and Sheila Jones have been drawn into the same district, meaning they will have to run against each other to retain the seat. A third candidate, Atlanta attorney Robert Patillo, has also entered the race. Jones' office confirmed to Patch that she intends to run again, while Dobbs is still undecided. "At this point in time I have not made a final decision about running again," Dobbs said. "I am being encouraged to run again and am looking into my options.
