Change marks strategy shift.
Restoration Hardware will build a flagship store in the former ESPN Zone site at 3030 Peachtree Road. The lease agreement underscores the shift in vision that Atlanta businessman Peter Blum has for the property, which had been a core part of Buckhead's party district image of the late 1990s and early 2000s. It explains why he opted not to renew the lease with the Cheesecake Factory restaurant chain at 3024 Peachtree Road, which sought another longterm agreement. “Restoration Hardware plans to build an iconic flagship store at 3030 Peachtree Road across the street from Oliver McMillan’s Buckhead Atlanta," Blum, who is managing partner of 3024 Peachtree LLP and 3030 Peachtree LLP, said in a statement. The site at 3030 Peachtree Road has been vacant since 2009.
The site of the former ESPN Zone in Buckhead could score a new tenant after being vacant for over two years. Luxury home furnishings retailer Restoration Hardware Inc. is in discussions to lease the three-story building at Peachtree and Pharr roads across from the Buckhead Atlanta project, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reported. ESPN Zone, an entertainment restaurant and bar, closed in late 2009 after opting out of its about 34,000-square-foot space in central Buckhead at 3030 Peachtree Road. ESPN had been there for nearly a decade. Buckhead Patch readers had previously suggested a PF Changs, Planet Hollywood, Dave and Busters, upscale bowling alley or an independent bookstore go into the vacant site.
