Thieves Target Buckhead Homes for Silver... Again

Atlanta Police alert Buckhead residents about "Silver bandits."

Buckhead residents have received warnings this week from the Atlanta Police Department about local thieves targeting their neighborhoods for valuable silver found in their homes. According to a Fox 5 report, "thieves have been breaking doors of homes in a neighborhood located just three minutes from Phipps Plaza on the Peachtree Dunwoody corridor." There seems to have been at least four silver burglaries during the month of January in Buckhead, and one of them even being just seconds from the Governor's Mansion. Buckhead Patch reported in December of 2012 that five homes were robbed of their silver at the time.  In one case, the victims put their value of their lost silver at $75,000-$100,000 and in a second case, the victims estimated …

Anyone taking a look who these people use for maid services? You don't need to be a silver expert---you just would need to know where it's kept and if you were the person polishing it you would know what it is.. It also sounds like they already know what houses have it and where it is kept; considering that it is the only items that they are taking. Just a thought.   more ›

Silverware Thieves Hit Five Buckhead Homes

The suspect is able to take $75,000 to $100,000 worth of goods all while the residents are at home.

At least five homes have been hit by a serial burglar who is stealing silverware, according to Atlanta Police. The homes are all in the same area around Tuxedo Drive and Northside Drive. According to CBS Atlanta, the thief has been able to take $75,000 to $100,000 worth of goods all while the homeowners were still in the home. Police say the thief has quite a trained eye for what is "good silverware," and he leaves the other silverware behind. Sgt. Greg Lyon of APD said the suspect has been "well-trained or well-educated" to know the difference between the expensive silverware and the less expensive, everyday silverware. That is my fear. I have to wonder what would happen if someone did hear this person and approach them. Is this person ready to kill the home owner? Obviously smart but too dumb to think ahead? How does he know who has silver and who does not?   more ›
