Black Friday now gets an early start on Thanksgiving Thursday, Buy Local campaigns push Small Business Saturday shopping and technology and social media sites encourage Cyber Monday logins. The message is clear - shop early and shop often. So what is your shopping style for the holidays? Did you start shopping on Black Friday or even after Thanksgiving dinner just settle on Thursday? Small Business Saturday is on Nov. 24 this year, two days after Thanksgiving. It is a day for everyone to support the small businesses that their community thrives on. American Express founded the day in 2010 to help small businesses get exposure during the holiday season, when they might be otherwise overlooked. With retailers buzzing around the holidays, it is important to support local small businesses that rely on their neighbors in order to continue prospering and building the local economy in Buckhead. They've become such a part of the American economic scene their names are instantly recognizable: Black Friday. Cyber Monday. And the more recent addition, Small Business Saturday, which tries to make sure locally-owned businesses don't get forgotten in the holiday shopping frenzy. This year, some of the grand retail plans have come with an extra helping of controversy. Target stores will open their doors to shoppers at 9 pm on Thanksgiving night, prompting several petition drives in protest. Streets of Buckhead Developer has Plans for Savannah Ben Carter, the original developer of Streets of Buckhead (now Buckhead Atlanta), plans to build an outlet mall on Savannah's outskirts in Pooler. Georgian Hills Apartments Redevelopment Underway Kaufman Realty Group LLC and Atlantic Realty Partners Inc., both based in Atlanta, have partnered to redevelop the 40-year-old Georgian Hills apartment complex at 1185 Collier Road.
