Chattahoochee Riverkeeper Honors 'Voices of a River' on Oct. 19

Join the organization as it honors river advocates in its annual patron dinner on Oct. 9.

The Chattahoochee Riverkeeper will honor its leading supporters and advocates of the river during the 19th Annual Patron Dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 9

The dinner will be held at The Foundry at Puritan Mill on Atlanta’s Westside. This year’s theme: “Voices of a River.” Honors will be given to the following recipients:

River Guardian Award — Cox Enterprises, Inc., a family-owned business that started in newspaper publishing and has grown into a multi-media worldwide operation with a strong and continuing heritage of civic engagement. Cox will receive our top award for decades of compelling reporting that has brought the story of the Chattahoochee River to the communities that depend upon this vital natural resource.

River Sustainability Award — UPS, the world’s largest package delivery company and a leading global provider of specialized transportation services. The company will be honored for its leadership and commitment to reducing the company’s energy and water footprint in the Chattahoochee River basin and worldwide.

River Hero Award — Jerry McCollum, retired president of the Georgia Wildlife Federation. McCollum will be honored for his exceptional leadership in building the conservation community in our state and helping save our natural heritage.

River Awareness Award — Fran Burst and Brandon Danowski. Burst (Burst Video/Film) and Danowski (Method Studios) will be honored for their outstanding creative and technical work on our new video, “Voices of a River. Work of a Riverkeeper.”
