Open & Shut Buckhead: IHOP Closes Its Doors after 19 Years
Also, Sheik Burritos & Kabobs closes up shop and plans to move to Midtown.
It’s been a busy year of development for Buckhead, which has experienced the closures of major mainstays and seen signs of life at the Buckhead Atlanta development.
Sheik Burritos n Kabobs closed its doors at its Piedmont location on Sunday after three years and plans to relocate to the Poncey Highland-Midtown area in the spring of 2013, according to the restaurant's Facebook page.
IHOP closed its Buckhead location at 3122 Peachtree Road on Christmas Eve after 19 years in the heart of Buckhead under its most recent operators. According to Tomorrow's News Today, the franchisee Frank Scripture decided to close the restaurant since Bank of America-which owns the property- was offering a month-to-month lease for the next year, but nothing concrete after that.

Dec. 31 was the last day of business for Ed Hardy in Lenox Square Mall. All Ed Hardy retail locations are closing. (But, really, who didn't see this coming?)
SAVI Urban Market, known for its urban growler beers and specialty cheeses, will open its third location in Buckhead’s Tuxedo Festival center, in the company of Gigi’s Cupcakes, FLIP Burger Boutique and Zoe’s Kitchen. According to Tomorrow’s News Today, the wine and spirits market is slated to open in late March or early April. The store will feature gourmet foods, wine and spirits and special events like wine tastings. SAVI also plans to expand to Midtown and Emory, according to its website.

While Buckhead won't be getting its own Varsity location quite yet, it will have another option for burgers, fries and frozen treats: Cheeseburger Bobby's, which started in Kennesaw, and now has six other locations, reports TNT. The burger joint, which offers frozen custard, will open in the Roswell-Wieuca Shopping Center in the space formerly occupied by Five Guys Burgers & Fries.
Al's Cafe Agora will expand and relocate in Buckhead to the former Thai Silk restaurant, which shuttered in September. The popular Mediterranean restaurant is currently located in a smaller space on East Paces. The new location will increase seating from 35 to 150 and add 40 new parking spaces, according to TNT.
