BCN Members Oppose Buckhead Atlanta Name

OliverMcMillan brand for multi-use development draws fire at meeting

OliverMcMillan's "Buckhead Atlanta" name for the former "Streets of Buckhead" development doesn't sit too well with Buckhead Council of Neighborhoods members.

At the end of the BCN meeting Thursday night, members aimed fire at OliverMcMillan's name for the long-stalled project in the heart of Buckhead.

"I take exception to it; it degrades our brand as a community," BCN secretary Gordon Certain said. "They're saying, 'we're Buckhead.'"

Other remaining members criticized the name as too generic, too general, too bland. Members echoed Certain's complaint that the "Buckhead Atlanta" name unfairly claims ownership of the community's identity.

"It's all about marketing," BCN Chairman Jim King said.
