Revenue Chief to Address Buckhead Business Association

Douglas J. MacGinnitie to speak at weekly breakfast meeting Thursday, Feb. 2

Douglas J. MacGinnitie, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Revenue, will speak at the Buckhead Business Association's weekly breakfast meeting Thursday, Feb. 2, at the City Club of Buckhead

MacGinnitie will speak about his time as commissioner, the upcoming tax season and the changes he has helped bring about within the Georgia Department of Revenue, a BBA news release said.

“Douglas MacGinnitie comes to us following some critical changes the Department of Revenue has made to improve customer service and compliance,” said BBA President Catherine Cattles in a statement.

The BBA's weekly breakfast meetings are from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the City Club of Buckhead. Tickets are $10 for BBA members and $20 for visitors and guests. For more information, see the BBA website, www.buckheadbusiness.org.

MacGinnitie was appointed by Gov. Nathan Deal to serve as Georgia’s state Revenue Commissioner on Jan. 18, 2011. MacGinnitie is a former candidate for Georgia secretary of state and also a former member of the Sandy Springs City Council.
 
Professionally, MacGinnitie served as chief operating officer of Grassroot Soccer, a nonprofit organization that uses soccer to save the lives of youth in southern Africa. Additionally, he co-founded and served as chief operating officer and a director of Beecher Carlson, a commercial insurance brokerage firm headquartered in Atlanta.

Following McGinnitie's appearance, Abe Schear and Phillip Skinner, commercial real estate partners at the law firm of Arnall Golden Gregory, will speak on Feb. 9.

Then President Sam Massell, the "mayor of Buckhead," will present his annual State of Buckhead address on Feb. 16. 

On Feb. 23, CEO and General Manager Dr. Beverly Scott will speak.
