Rotary Club of Buckhead Looks for New Home After Restaurant Closes

Group testing different meeting sites after closing of Yacht Club, formerly Anthony's

The closing of the Yacht and Polo Club, formerly Anthony’s, has the Rotary Club of Buckhead looking for a new home.

The Yacht Club, which took over the longtime Anthony’s site last summer as a semiprivate club owned by Alex Suarez, closed at the first of the year. Anthony's was a well-known Buckhead landmark, especially popular for special events such as wedding receptions.

Bill Knight, director of operations of the Rotary Club, said the group has been meeting at the Anthony's site for 26 years, “a long time. Moving is uncomfortable, but we don’t have any choice.”

Knight said the club will hold one more catered meeting Monday at the former Anthony's site, 3109 Piedmont Road, and then will be “trying a couple of different locations.” 

The club will hold meetings in in the next few weeks at the , the Buckhead Club and the Cherokee Town Club. Knight said the club also “might look at ."

“Our concern is pricing, trying to make sure we can have a reasonable type of price,” Knight said. “We were underpiced at Anthony’s — we were right there, the kitchen was right there. With everything catered, the prices go up.”

The phone at the Yacht Club was operational Wednesday, and a voicemail from Buckhead Patch was not returned by late morning.
