Shortly afterwards, the Foundation of Wesley Woods notified Massell that he had been selected to be honored at its annual “Heroes, Saints and Legends” Award Dinner and Gala, where two distinguished Georgians over 70 are recognized for their continuing service to the community. The event  will be held May 5.

Next, came news that he was being invited for induction into the Georgia State University J. Mack Robinson College of Business “Hall of Fame” — its highest honor — with a celebration dinner May 10.

Massell said, “Having been selected by the citizens of my great city to serve as its mayor in the early '70s was honor enough for a lifetime, but now I’m overwhelmed. These three groups are quite gracious, and I’ll strive to deserve their confidence.”
