Elizabeth Smart to Appear at Child Safety Luncheon

Buckhead event to give information on radKIDS program

Nationally known child safety advocate Elizabeth Smart will appear at a "take action" safety seminar for parents, educators and community leaders at noon Thursday, March 15, at the

Smart was kidnapped at age 14 and rescued nine months later in a case that received massive national attention. She is now president of the Elizabeth Smart Foundation and an ABC News special correspondent.

She will participate in the event along with Steve Daley of Keep Georgia Safe and founder of radKIDS, a child safety program. The lunch is spsonsored by the Buckhead Alliance and Keep Georgia Safe.

Daley will present an interactive safety forum, with information on the . Elizabeth Smart's father, Ed, president of the Surviving Parents Coalition and national spokesperson for radKIDS, will also appear, according to an announcement.

RadKIDS teaches children ages 5-12 how to recognize, avoid, resist and escape violence, bullying, abduction and harm, the announcement said.

The event is in reponse to the recent abduction and murder of a 7-year-old Canton, Ga. girl, then the attempted abduction of a 7-year-old Bremen girl, within 64 days of each other, the news release said.
