Hearing on Buckhead Greenspace Initiative to Highlight Busy Week

NPUs, BCN also holding meetings this week

School's out and Buckhead families are headed to the beach and elsewhere, but that doesn't meant that business stops. This week has a crowded calendar, including a hearing Wednesday on the Buckhead Collection initiative to increase green space in Buckhead's central area, Council District 7.

Here's a look at events this week, including NPU meetings and the Buckhead Council of Neighborhoods.

Greenspace Initiative Hearing

When/where: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, auditorium, 2890 N. Fulton Drive.

Why go: Buckhead's Greenspace Action Plan, the Buckhead Collection, will add parks, plazas, trails and art and cultural sites to Buckhead. Buckhead's District 7 has the least amount of greenspace in the city, and spearheaded by Councilman Howard Shook, Livable Buckhead is leading the campaign for more green areas. Livable Buckhead Executive Director Denise Starling and other team members will present the plan and answer questions.

NPU-A

When/where: 7 p.m. Tuesday, , 3160 Northside Parkway.

Why go: The NPU at its monthly meeting handles neighborhood zoning issues and hears reports from governmental agencies. Here is link to this month's agenda. This month, an ordinance to regulate city farmers' market is up for consideration.

NPU-B

When/where: 7 p.m. Tuesday, first floor of the Hyland Center, 2699 Peachtree Road.

Why go: NPU-B handles zoning matters and issues in Buckhead's central business district. From taverns seeking to put on a festival to new restaurants to homeowners wanting to add a garage, NPUs handle a range of issues. Here's a link to this month's agenda.Like other NPUs in Buckhead, NPU-B will consider an ordinance regulating farmers' markets in the city.

NPU-C

When/where: 7 p.m. Tuesday, , 3003 Howell Mill Road.

Why go: Like the other NPUs, NPU-C handles a variety of zoning issues and hears reports from state and city officials. NPU-C will also consider the ordinance regulating city farmers' markets. Here is link to this month's meeting.

Buckhead Council of Neigbhorhoods

When/where: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, .

Why go: The BCN is composed of 38 neighborhoods and considers a range of concerns. State and city officials regularly appear to discuss public issues.
