Spring Awakening: Peachtree Farmers Market Opens Saturday

Buckhead tradition returns to Cathedral of St. Philip

For some Buckhead folks, spring doesn't officially arrive until the Peachtree Road Farmers Market opens. For them, the season hits full bloom this weekend.

The farmers market, which unfolds with a sumptious selection of products in the parking lot, opens for its sixth season from 8:30 a.m. until noon Saturday. It will remain open until Dec. 15, changing to a 9 a.m. start in the fall.

"Bring your own bell and noisemaker to help us open 2012 with a joyful noise," the farmers market said in a tweet at @PtreeFarmersMkt.

The market will open with Chris Hall of The Local Three presenting a chef demonstration at 10 a.m. The demos are presented each weekend at the same time. Hannah Onley will perform live music.

What's your favorite part of the farmers market? I like the pottery of John Page, the Renaissance Man, and the tamales. Let us know in Comments your special vendor or product.
