Republican districts to increase incumbents' power

New congressional districts to be approved this week likely will increase partisan and racial divisions in state politics, an Atlanta Journal-Constitution data analysis found. The newspaper's study also said that incumbents will more likely win re-election.

Under the Republican repportionment plan to receive final approval in the state Legislature, Buckhead will be split between U.S. Reps. John Lewis, a Democrat, and Phil Gingrey, a Republican.
