Public Meeting Tuesday on Comprehensive Development Plan

Neighborhood information sought

District 8 Councilwoman Yolanda Adrean brought a thick book to last week's Buckhead Council of Neighborhoods meeting — the preliminary 2011 Comprehensive Development Plan for the city.

Despite its bulk, however, the plan is incomplete and generalized, Adrean said, urging citizens to give their input for inclusion in the CDP, which "sets spending priorities for the city."

For example, she said, in the plan's assessment of the city economically, "there's nothing in here about the impact of our schools on the economy."

Neighborhood representatives and residents have the opportunity on Tuesday to present their views on projects and spending priorities. The city's Office of Planning is sponsoring an "Issues and Opportunities" public meeting from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3003 Howell Mill Road NW. The meeting in Room B-110 is for Neighborhood Planning Units A, B, C and D.

After a brief introduction by the Planning Department, roundtable discussions will be conducted, Adrean said.
