Sutton Parents Respond to Erroll Davis' Comments in Patch Interview

Co-PTSA presidents in letter to editor cite parents' commitment to APS

Leigh Darby and Margaret Long, co-presidents of Sutton Middle School's PSTA. sent Buckhead Patch the folliowing response to School Superintendent Erroll B. Davis Jr.'s comments in a recent interview with Patch editors. The letter concerns a Buckhead Patch article.

We have read the Patch article regarding Mr. Davis's "irritation at APS redistricting responses" and can understand his frustration on the strong opinions of some of our parents. We certainly appreciate the hard work he and the APS board have spent on the redistricting issue and for his consideration in working with all of us to come up with the best solution for our cluster.

Through out the years, our parents, whether current APS families or already out of the system, have invested so much of their time, energy and money into enhancing our six feeder schools, middle and high school.

We are fortunate in our cluster to have such enthusiastic parents, and along with the administration and schoolteachers, have worked endless hours and have strived to make the northern cluster of schools a success. We have a wide range of diversity and economic backgrounds in our cluster, and despite language barriers, working parents or stay-at-home parents, one-parent households or two, we have all managed to come together to achieve one goal make our neighborhood schools a success!

So many parents have a vested interest in our school system and the success of our cluster and schools affects us all. With all the problems with APS right now (i.e. CRCT cheating, probation, etc.) we want to believe in our school system and continuing to invest in it for our own kids and the future children of our Buckhead community.
