Westminster Takes Big Region Win Over Lovett

Wildcats beat Buckhead archrivals on rainy night

shut down offense on a rainy Friday night to take a 21-2 6-AA-B victory and ease the path to the state playoffs. The victory was the 400th in school history, according to the WCAT Facebook page.

With the win in the annual "Battle of Buckhead," Westminster will play Decatur in the region play in game. The game will be at 7:30 p.m. next Friday night at Westminster.

Lovett falls to  6-3 for the year and 3-2 in 6-AA Division B, and will now likely have to play subregion A powerhouse GAC to extend its streak of making the state playoffs in each of coach Mike Muschamp’s six seasons at the school. Westminster is now 5-4 for the season and 4-1 in the subregion.

Blessed Trinity has already won the division this year. So Lovett will  have to take on a very tough Division A runner-up team in Greater Atlanta Christian, which has lost just once this year. Westminster will draw a far less formidable foe in Decatur.
