Lovett Wrestlers Win State Titles

Patrick Emerson takes 189-pound championship, while Hunter Rich captures 285-pound event

Lovett's Patrick Emerson and Hunter Rich won their weight classes at the state traditional wrestling championships Saturday.

Emerson, a Vinings junior, took the 189-pound title while Rich, a Vinings senior, captured the 285-pound trophy as coach Jim Glasser's Lions finished fourth in AA, according to the Lovett Web site. The event was held at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.

The titles bring to 56 the number of Lovett wrestlers who have claimed individual state championships under  Glasser, who is retiring after the season.  Lovett will travel to Toombs County next weekend for the State Duals meet, which was rescheduled from early January as a result of the weeklong snow and ice event in the state.
